Preparing Your Child for PhotoDay
A little preparation can help your child feel comfortable and look their best, but there’s no need to make PhotoDay stressful.
Clothing
Choose clothing your child feels comfortable and confident wearing.
Solid colors, subtle patterns, and simple clothing usually photograph especially well. Very busy patterns, neon colors, oversized graphics, and large lettering can sometimes draw attention away from your child’s face.
Most importantly, choose something that still feels like your child.
Hair
Style your child’s hair the way they normally wear it.
A quick check before school to smooth flyaways, straighten bangs, or tidy their usual hairstyle is usually all that’s needed. There’s no need to try a brand-new hairstyle just for PhotoDay.
Glasses
If your child normally wears glasses, they should wear them for their portrait.
Our photographers adjust posing and lighting to help reduce reflections and glare. If noticeable glare remains in the final photograph, glasses glare removal is available at no additional charge.
Accessories
Accessories are welcome if they are part of your child’s normal style.
Jewelry, hair accessories, bows, headbands, and other personal touches can help make the portrait feel like them. We recommend keeping accessories simple enough that they do not distract from your child’s face.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep
A well-rested child is usually a happier and more comfortable child in front of the camera.
If possible, keep the night before PhotoDay relaxed and make sure younger children get their usual amount of sleep.
Don’t Practice the Perfect Smile
Natural expressions usually make the best portraits.
Rather than asking your child to practice a specific smile, simply let them know they’re going to meet a friendly photographer who will help them through the process.
Our photographers work with students to create relaxed, natural expressions, and we provide extra attention to younger children and students who may need a little more time.
Retouching Options
Sometimes a great photograph only needs a small finishing touch.
Retouching options are available when placing your order through your child’s online gallery.
Depending on the image and product selected, available options may include:
- Standard retouching
- Teeth whitening
- Braces removal
- Premium face retouching
- Glasses glare removal
Glasses glare removal is provided at no additional charge.
Our goal with retouching is to create a polished portrait while still keeping your child looking natural and recognizable.

Yes, when scheduling and school policies allow. Sibling photos are commonly offered at our preschools, where it is easier to coordinate children from the same family. At public schools, sibling photos are less common and depend on the school’s schedule, setup, and approval.
Yes. Digital image downloads are available for purchase through your child’s private online gallery, along with prints, packages, and other photo products.
